Beyond a website
Some jobs need more than a website.
A website tells people what you do. Sooner or later a business needs something that does the job instead: the screen your staff work in every day, the database behind it, the thing your customers log into. That is the same trade, and it is work we take on.
Two of them are below. One is a full application with hundreds of people using it. The other is a long-standing family firm whose public site and staff system were built together, so the two stay in sync.
Case one
Money-Me — personal finances, for hundreds of people at once.
money-me.com — live, with paying subscribers.
Money-Me is a custom-built application: people put in their income, their bills, their debts and their savings, and it works out where the money goes, what is left, and how long it lasts.
It runs for hundreds of users, each with their own data, kept apart and kept private. It does the sums on demand rather than overnight, so what is on the screen is always current. The forecasting and the accounts were built for this job specifically, because nothing off the shelf did it.

What that involves: a database designed round the questions people actually ask, sign-in through Google and accounts kept properly separate, subscriptions and card payments, calculations that have to be right every time, and a screen that stays readable on a phone while showing a year of figures.
Case two
MTM Fitted Furniture — forty years of work, and the system behind it.
mtmfittedfurniture.com — bedrooms, kitchens and sliding wardrobes, made and fitted in Hull.
A family firm in Hull, over forty years in the trade, making fitted bedrooms, kitchens and sliding wardrobes in their own workshop. Two pieces of work, built to fit together: the public site that shows customers what they make, and a private admin area their staff use to run the place.
The public side is the shop window: kitchens, bedrooms and sliding doors, and a straight way to get in touch. Behind the enquiry form, the message is handled server-side and sent on, so nothing is lost between a customer typing and the office reading it. The private side is where the work is tracked: enquiries as they arrive, customers and their history, and staff accounts with different levels of access.

What that involves: a customer and job database, staff accounts with different levels of access, and a screen designed for people who use it forty times a day rather than once.

If the job is bigger than a website, say so.
This work is priced on its own, not on the fifty. Tell us what the thing has to do and who has to use it, and we will price it properly.
